8 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (24 Aug)

Downs...

1. Father & Gunn

Billy Gunn Colten Gunn
AEW

The most artificial feud in AEW continued last night, with Colten Gunn felling father Billy one week after Gunn Club's undercooked implosion, when Colten and Austin turned on the man who'd raised them in the blink of an eye.

That moment suffered not only as it was the product of an insubstantial build, but because Billy didn't care. His own flesh and blood had stuck a knife between his shoulder blades and he had moved on to scissoring Anthony Bowens within seconds. Those same issues bled into last night's match. How is anyone supposed to buy into a bout stretched so far beyond the realm of believability?

It was a basic contest not helped by Billy's increasing in-ring limitations and Colten's greenness (understandable, given the limitations). It closed on Colten low-blowing his dad after an Austin/Stokely Hathaway-assisted distraction, then hitting the Colt .45 for the win. Afterwards, Swerve in our Glory saved The Acclaimed (who rapped Billy to the ring) from a further beatdown.
