8 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 22)

Sonya Deville

While Mandy Rose's look all but guarantees an eventual mega-push, Sonya Deville might be the more exciting Absolution prospect. Her ring work isn't quite there yet, but she carries herself with an assurance lacking in most performers of her (in)experience, and already projects a degree of menace. Such traits can't always be taught, and it bodes well that they're already present in her work.

Last night's Money In The Bank qualifier with Naomi was fine. While not necessarily anything you need to go out of your way to see, it succeeded in telling a coherent story within a limited timeframe, and the former Funkadactyl's prawn hold finish helps keep Deville semi-protected.

It would've been fun to see Sonya get a shot in the ladder match, but Naomi is a better shout. Although it became cliché a long time ago, it's still accurate to call her one of the division's better athletes, even if her other attributes aren't elite. At the very least, she'll be able to set and maintain a fast pace whenever she's involved in the action.
