8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (1 Feb - Review)

2. TBS Title Match Over-Delivers

Jade Cargill Red Velvet
AEW

Apparently butchered by a commercial break, the Fite feed was watched to inform this review, so Jade Cargill's amazing walking press slam wasn't minimised in picture-in-picture. For the yanks, though, this wasn't on. It's often the women's match that seems to exist only as a sponsored payment vehicle.

That spot was nevertheless fantastic, and Red Velvet's performance from underneath was so spirted that she just about earned the visual pin. Jade and Velvet have always shared a strong chemistry, and it was apparent again here. Unfussy, with little of Jade's usual clunky hesitation, it was a more dramatic and hot match than much of Jade's back catalogue. Velvet's brief glimmers of hope got the crowd rolling, but Jade easily put her away by the finish.

That should be the end of this Baddies storyline. Hopefully, Kris Statlander isn't too far away from a return; much as what was shown of the match over-delivered, this TBS title reign peaked a while ago.
