8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (18 Oct)

Downs...

2. Garage Door Dreck

Jay Lethal garage door
AEW

AEW's "no physicality" ruling had no meaning in Darby Allin, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt's backstage interview segment with Alex Marvez, which transcended the verbal realm from the moment the wrestlers shooed the broadcaster away.

Calling Darby's previous win over him a fluke, Lethal wanted a rematch. Allin, in response, asserted that he would beat Jay again and again and again. Alex exited the scene after Dutt claimed "a friend of ours" had clued them in on Allin's weakness, leading to a two-on-one brawl when Darby shoved the heels, leading to him being trapped under a garage door while Lethal applied a Figure Four.

Which looked rough. Gently and softly, the shutters descended upon Allin, lending little in the way of believability to the idea his ribs had been "crushed". This not only looked weak, but gave Darby ample time to credibly escape.

A poorly-executed decent idea, this didn't look good on television.
