8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (18 Oct)

8. FTR Finally Go For AEW Gold

FTR Swerve In Our Glory
AEW

That FTR have been number one contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championships since the turn of the century became a meme months ago, so it was good to see the company finally scratch that itch on Dynamite.

Swerve In Our Glory feel they have an equally justifiable claim to face The Acclaimed following their loss to Anthony Bowens and Max Caster at Grand Slam. They accosted FTR mid-interview, interrupting their conversation with Renee Paquette, ultimately resulting in Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland being booked to face Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler next week. The winners shall then advance to challenge The Acclaimed.

Yes, this featured the tiresome backstage interruption trope (a supplemental Down, if you wish), but FTR's elephant in the room had been ignored for too long. Their AEW Tag Team Title challenge is overdue - and this should be a fine match.
