8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (30 June)

7. Coffin Dropped

Ethan Page
AEW

It's almost unbelievable that Ethan Page is only now getting his first role in an American wrestling promotion with a major television deal, 14 years into his career, given how polished the guy is.

Page looks like a million dollars alongside Scorpio Sky. He's in the shape of his life, looks motivated, and has always been a charismatic heel and well above most of his peers on the microphone. Here, with Tony Schiavone teeing him up, he demonstrated the full range of his abilities.

A blustery, threatening promo drew Sting from the back with a coffin in tow. Darby Allin emerged from it, because of course he did, responding to Page's promise to exterminate him by going after his eyes with his fingernails, forcing Ethan to stumble around blindly after escaping. Then, Page scrapped next week's Coffin Match. He's only going to agree to it if Allin can resist attacking him the week before.

This was likely done to avoid the horrendous optics of holding a Coffin Match in Miami one week after a building collapse killed at least 18 people. A savvy move, but we now get the intrigue of learning if Darby can control himself next week as well.
