8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (30 June)

Promos like the one MJF cut last night are great because they go straight to heart of a complaint and de-fang it by making it part of the narrative.

The Inner Circle's feud with The Pinnacle has become too cute, with its vehicle destruction segments, dressed-up face-to-face showdowns, and occasional comedy veering through sports entertainment country. That's been the complaint for the past few weeks. Here, MJF ripped Chris Jericho for "turning AEW into your own perverted version of Looney Tunes." In character at least, he has had enough of the cute stuff himself.

Saving a few barbs for Sammy Guevara for the end, it was clear, coming out of this, that Jericho vs. MJF is the match in this feud. That's always been the case, though. The Guevara/MJF "protégé" subplot was paid off in the main event. Sammy must be content with being the future while MJF is "the now," in his words.
