8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (30 June)

5. The Redeemer

Miro AEW
AEW

The great work done to turn Miro's AEW run around cannot be understated - and the TNT Champion took it to a different level last night.

After rechristening himself 'God's Favourite Champion' last Saturday, clutching a cross pendant as he spoke, Miro shed what little remained of his 'Best Man' shell last night. Emerging from the back to a new horn-led war song, he is now dubbed 'The Redeemer', putting his character on the same level as Christ himself and increasing his standing as an almighty, indomitable force.

Brian Pillman Jr. got trucked, the poor guy. Controlled by Miro throughout, he fired up well towards the end, energising himself and the audience as he swam against an irrepressible tide. He even teased breaking the Game Over, though Miro's transition into a back-snapping rear-naked choke was too much.

This is the version of Miro fans wanted all along. His presentation now matches his brutish performances as TNT Champion and frankly, he's terrifying.
