8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (January 3 - Results & Review)

Ups…

8. The Patriarchy's State Of The Union Address

Putting the fun in functional as he always does, Christian Cage was a riot leading his Patriarchy through a heat-drenched celebration following him "retaining" the TNT Championship at World's End.

Denying the original result ever happened, Cage insisted that his run started when he won it on the first episode of Collision, which of course also wasn't the case. Reminding viewers that Killswitch has now been responsible for Cage holding gold twice, this also played nicely into a predictable but enjoyable payoff where the titleholder thanked Shayna and Nick Wayne and himself rather than giving any kudos to the wrecking machine over his shoulder.

It was clear from this that the wrestling dinosaur finding his voice and confidence to fight back is the eventual end to all of this, but Adam Copeland was shunted to the back of the line too. He'll inevitably get his revenger sooner or later, but Cage seemed intent to try and stop that for as long as he can get away with.
