8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite: The Crossroads (Mar 3)
1. A Clichéd Ending
Matt Hardy and Marq Queen vs. Hangman Page and John Silver went down in the main event spot. It was of a similar calibre to 10 vs. Caster, though Page's explosiveness and Silver pop-pop-popping offensive flurries brought it up a level, with Page eventually taking the win after nailing the Busckhot Lariat on Quen, an intimidated Hardy jumping off the apron and backing away.
Again, solid but unspectacular.
The bout was unfortunately followed by the most clichéd kind of pre-PPV brawl. With the Casino Tag Team Royale looming, The Dark Order ran out from the back, saving Silver and Page from Hardy and Quen. They were soon joined by every team booked to compete in the Casino Royale, including new additions PAC and Rey Fenix, whose entrance music played for their interruption. Dynamite went off the air with everyone scrapping.
Banal and uncreative, we've seen multi-man angles like these hundreds of times before across multiple promotions. They never feel anything other than trite and it's a shame AEW couldn't come up with something more creative for this bout.
