8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Full Gear 2020

7. Cassidy & Silver Strike A Balance

John Silver and Orange Cassidy are extremely adept at working shtick into believable pro-wrestling matches without ever violating the artform's accepted psychology. Here, they struck a perfect balance between banter and brawling, delivering a ridiculously fun, lively bout that more than warranted the move from Buy In to main card.

A bout that began with Silver doing his 'Meat Man' shtick saw the Dark Order man get progressively more and more wound up by Cassidy's pocket spots and slow kicks. "IT DOESN'T EVEN HURT!", he yelled as 'Freshly Squeezed' as he brushed his shins, before deciding he'd had enough, literally tearing Cassidy's pockets from his jeans and, well, eating them. Johnny bloody Hungiee.

Silver showcased some absurd power spots, biel throwing Cassidy halfway across the ring and nailing an unbelievable single-arm Gorilla Press. His control period was as impressive and personality-packed as expected, with a tribute to Brodie Lee costing him the win, as his Discus Clothesline was countered by an Orange Crush and the Beach Break.

Full of character and sharp, popping offence, this was a hoot.
