8 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (22 April)
1. Hold The Match, Please
You’d never have imagined Tenille Dashwood is challenging for the Knockouts Championship on Sunday because her match vs. Susan was subpar.
An array of needlessly weak strikes mixed with Susan screaming in Tenille’s face sums this up perfectly; trash. That the only highlight was a botched butterfly suplex that saw Susan dropped on her neck isn’t enough to get this on the positive side. The former Emma picked up the win with one of her worst Spotlight Kicks yet to the point that Matt Striker on commentary didn’t even know it was a Spotlight Kick.
‘The Influencer’s’ post-match promo on Deonna Purrazzo was at least one positive here. Tenille claimed to be a bigger star than ‘The Virtuosa’, how she’s done more for women’s wrestling than anyone else. She had that great NXT Women’s Championship match with Paige, sure, but it’s a bold claim to make, especially when you’ve just wrestled a terrible bout.
Had last night’s show only included this promo, then it’d be an Up for sure. The in-ring action massively derailed from the story arc here.
