8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Victory Road 2020

4. A Step Too Far

The transformation of Susie back into Su Yung may have been completed at Victory Road, as the former 'Undead Bride' failed to dethrone Deonna Purrazzo of her Knockouts Championship.

As is often the case, Susie's arsenal throughout the match wasn't anything to write home about. A running bulldog - her favourite move, it seems - and a slightly botched dive through the ropes were the main highlights. The main focus here was the work of Deonna and Kimber Lee, who assisted 'The Virtuosa' from ringside at one or two points in the match, including a stiff kick straight to Susie's skull.

With the match winding down, and Susie setting up for the Panic Switch, 'The Crown Jewel' interjected herself into the match once more, setting Deonna up perfectly to cinch in her trademark Fujiwara armbar. Even though Susie did manage the hold, she found herself locked straight back in the submission, as the defending champion hooked both arms to ensure a victory for her ahead of her defence against Kylie Rae in three weeks. It wasn't enough to retain, though, as Purrazzo then snapped Susie's arm in a steel chair post-match, while Lee forced Rae to watch on.

If this doesn't bring Su Yung back, then what will? We didn't actually see Susie twitching after the onslaught as we have previously, however, it's the perfect way to resurrect the character. She's clearly coming back sooner rather than later, so why not have this be the way? The relationship between her and 'Smiley Kylie' was always far too optimistic to last forever.
