8 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 5)

The Miz's issues with The New Day continued last night, as the trio swerve-apologised to 'The A-Lister' when they asked him to drew their Money In The Bank participant out of a hat, only for Miz to dunk his hand in a puddle of pancake batter. Firmly bantered off, Miz was pissed, and this eventually led to him, Samoa Joe, and Rusev facing Kofi, Woods, and Big E in the main event.

It was a cracker. The ongoing New Day/Bar issues should've called for Sheamus and Cesaro's presence, but the match may not have worked so well with interference, as the six wrestlers were given an ample 13 minutes to have a simple, uncomplicated trios match. There were quick tags, momentum shifts, and double-teams ahoy, and The New Day once again proving that no matter how fatigued we get with their characters, no other WWE team has as much chemistry.

The heels screwed up in the end, with Miz accidentally lobbing pancakes at his partners. This saw Rusev blast Miz, before him and Joe walked out, leaving 'The A-Lister' to his fate. Midnight Hour, pinfall, done.

With four of the six participants set to feature at Money In The Bank, this did a solid job of furthering the SmackDown side of things, as it gave Rusev and Joe more reason to want to triumph next Sunday. Good action, good storytelling. A success.
