8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 27)

1. "Get These Hips"

Braun Strowman New Day

If he's not careful, Braun Strowman might start getting called the 'Hip Hop Hippo'.

His dance moves (big boy can jive) alongside New Day harked back to the days of Rikishi with Too Cool, though they come at a price. WWE cannot seriously expect fans to treat Braun as a 'Monster Among Men' when he's throwing down shapes that'd be at home in some 1970s comedy.

It's all entertaining stuff in a goofy, lighthearted way, but this represents yet another step backwards for someone who was once a credible heel destroyer. He's more Albert with Scotty 2 Hotty than André The Giant in 2019, and that's a slight worry if WWE ever want to pivot back in the other direction.

Remember this when he's inevitably presented as some wrecking ball bad ass when it's suddenly convenient for the booking team. Though true things move quickly in pro wrestling, it's often the creative minds who forget, not the fans.
