8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (16 Oct)

2. The Main Event

Bryan Danielson Bobby Fish

Bobby Fish vs. Bryan Danielson was always going to be solid.

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and CM Punk had a blast working the desk on comms for this too, and no wonder. Punk, in particular, seemed very interested in how Bryan would recover after that war of attrition with Minoru Suzuki on Friday's 'Buy In'. His words added weight to Danielson's big weekend.

That also played into the notion that Fish might pull out a surprise win by targeting Bryan's knackered limbs. He may even try to deploy the same tactics that Suzuki had, Punk wondered. Meanwhile, JR put Fish over as someone nobody should take lightly, and Punk agreed by calling him seriously underrated.

Yeah, the commentary for this one ruled.

The psychology was sound too. Both men focused on the legs of their foe, and tried to weaken them sufficiently to force a submission. Bryan managed that in the end by battling through a dual-heel hook attempt to lock in a vicious-looking snap.
