8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (6 July)

7. Scissor Me, Daddy-- NOOOOOO!

Billy Gunn The Acclaimed
AEW

It was with deep regret that the Acclaimed/Gunn Club alliance fell apart last night, robbing us of Anthony Bowens' wonderfully over-the-top "SCISSOR ME, DADDY!" act with Billy Gunn, and perhaps their union could have used longer on the stove the maximise their split's impact.

Nonetheless, what we got was effective. Austin Gunn escalated ongoing tensions by snatching Max Caster's microphone away mid-rap. Later, he stole the pinfall on Bear Bronson from Max, blind-tagging in following a Mic Drop.

In the post-match stramash, Gunn Club cemented The Acclaimed's face turn, downing Caster and Bowens. Billy briefly flirted with turning his own suns but swerved The Acclaimed, with Bowens taking a FameAsser.

Max and Anthony have felt like a burgeoning babyface act for a while now. Their scissoring days might be over, but this run has potential.
