8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (6 July)

6. WWE History Landing Strong In AEW

Claudio Castagnoli Jake Hager
AEW

AEW's willingness to embrace almost every corner of wrestling history has been very, very welcome throughout the company's lifespan. Anything that happened in another promotion is fair game. The promotion doesn't treat its viewers like goldfish, asking them to willingly forget certain things that happened elsewhere, even when "elsewhere" is WWE.

Claudio Castagnoli and Jaker Hager is the latest example of this. They'll now go one-on-one after a great exchange in Blood & Guts, which was received extremely well by the live crowd. Chants of "we the people!" filled the building as they threw down. People remember the Real Americans.

The singles match was set up via a backstage interview with Tony Schiavone, which was enabled by a waiver preventing physical contact. Both wrestlers showed good intensity despite not being known as traditionally great talkers, giving fans another reason to feel excited about a pairing that is delivering well so far.
