8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 27)

Ups....

8. Sabian & Havoc Elevate

Kip Sabian Jimmy Havoc
AEW

AEW's second Tag Team Title contendership match in less than a week went down on Dynamite, with Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc earning their shot by beating the SoCal Uncensored duo of Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky. They'll face Kenny Omega and Hangman Page next week with the winners defending against Best Friends at Fyter Fest.

The tandems overcame some initial clunkiness to produce a solid little undercard tag. At its best when Havoc was working his grimy gouge-heavy tactics during the control sequence, it saw SCU presented as rusty, as Sky and Kaz haven't teamed since February. Havoc and Sabian, meanwhile, have been working together every week on Dark and Dynamite, giving them an upper hand that wouldn't have existed during SCU's title reign.

Sabian and Havoc's victory came with Michinoku Driver/Dropkick combination and is a considerable upset, as well as a sign of progress for this growing heel unit. They don't always click, but they did here.
