8 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jan 14)

3. Ace In The House

... it was a lovely little match from House of Hardcore.

As mentioned in the above entry, the match didn't have a story coming into it, so the promos from Eddie Edwards and Moose helped establish a decent match between those two, alongside Fallah Bahh and defending X Division Champion, Ace Austin.

This was a strike-heavy match in the opening stages, but as soon as things began to pick up, both Bahh and Edwards took to the skies, with both men looking to lift the championship. A common theme throughout the match was the sneaky tactics of 'The One True Ace', as he attempted to sneak in some pins, all of which were unsuccessful. He would, however, end up clinging onto his title, pinning Fallah following The Fold from atop the turnbuckles.

So while it didn't feature a storyline attached to it, the match was a highly enjoyable one. Admittedly, it was slightly strange seeing the likes of Moose and Fallah Bahh challenging for the X Division Championship, which has a history of being contested for by the smaller guys. That's not to say that the bigger lads can't also hold it though - just look at Samoa Joe and Abyss.

They more than held their own in this one, as did Ace and Eddie. For all future matches that don't have a story in them, they should have no issue still creating a great match. If these four can do it, then everyone else should be capable of it as well.
