8 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown (15 Nov)

2. Passion Mixed With Mental Instability

Oh what a promo it was.

Bryan yelled at Miz to shut his mouth, then weaved a poetical rant about how he managed to mix passion for pro wrestling with mental instability. This should go down as one of the best short segments of the year for sure. Daniel was on fire when he got going, and he turned the clock back to those Authority-bashing promos of old.

It might not have been as long, and fans might not enjoy the coming pay-per-view match quite as much as Full Gear's, but Dan's words here were every bit as good as Cody's on AEW Dynamite recently. Again, this should teach WWE something. When they don't script promos too heavily and have the right performers delivering the right material, magic happens.

If there's any justice in this world, Bryan's angry promo will be remembered as a plus point in the build to Survivor Series. It felt raw, it felt real, and it was enhanced by The Miz's stoic facial expressions as Daniel wouldn't let him speak.
