8 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Monday Night Raw (September 25 - Results & Review)
5. Drew McIntyre Vs Kofi Kingston
This ruled.
Barely betraying the babyface arsenal that has kept him as one of the company's premier good eggs over the last few years, McIntyre chose a more subtle and opportunistic approach to his style to delicately tease out his incoming turn against the eternally beloved Kofi Kingston.
Way more than merely a case of old pros filling television time, this was a masterclass in keeping the crowd from fully giving up hope on 'The Scottish Warrior' until the absolute last possible point. The countdown before The Claymore represented a huge trigger for his original turn in 2019, and using it here for an unsuccessful attempt might prove to be a significant beginning-of-the-end moment for the former WWE Champion.
He only connected with the move and scored the victory after forcing Kingston back into battle despite The New Day man's efforts to save Xavier Woods from an Ivar ringside beatdown. Having claimed his scalp, he left both members as easy pickings for the lone Viking Raider, yet again walking away from doing the right thing. Ivar's moonsault yet again dazzled, getting that programme all the more heated up for whenever Erik's back to action.
