It really can’t be overstated how great it is to see Chad Gable in a serious storyline for a singles title.

Gable helped coach Sami Zayn to do the impossible at WrestleMania 40, dethroning Gunther and ending the longest Intercontinental Championship reign in WWE history. Monday night, Chad saved Sami from an attack from the other two members of Imperium, and then tagged with Zayn to take on Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci. The four of them had a perfectly liquid pro wrestling match, including a wonderful spot where Zayn and Gable hit stereo rolling Germans on Imperium and then executed a combo finisher to vanquish the duo.

Afterward, Sami toyed with Gable a bit before offering him an IC Title match next week… in Zayn’s hometown of Montreal. This sets into motion several different scenarios, all of which could be really good: Sami retains clean and they have respect; Sami retains and Gable snaps and turns heel; Gable wins cleanly and Sami is dejected; Gable turns heel mid-match and cheats to win the title.

This should be a tremendous match as well, and the story being interesting is just icing on the cake.
