8 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw After WrestleMania 40 (8 April - Results & Review)
5. New Directions
While the Raw after WrestleMania typically is about big pops and surprises, it also is typically about new directions for major superstars and titles, as major angles have climaxed at 'Mania and new stories are needed going forward.
WWE managed to lay out challengers for Raw’s three singles champs Monday night, lining them up succinctly and giving fans some stories to look forward to in the coming weeks.
First, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Liv Morgan attacked Rhea Ripley backstage by throwing a chair at her head and then pummeled her, very clearly reigniting their feud and putting Morgan back in the title picture. She’s the last person to have pinned Ripley, nearly two years ago, which will obviously feed into things.
Sami Zayn offered an Intercontinental Championship match to Chad Gable next week in Sami's hometown of Montreal. This good, wholesome setup could obviously go horribly wrong in multiple ways, so it will be interesting to see how they proceed.
And lastly, Jey Uso became the new #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, winning a four-way match and earning a shot against new champ Damian Priest. Uso could be an excellent first challenger for Priest; a fan favorite who will bring abundant energy but can credibly lose with or without interference.
Those are pretty could developments folded into a three-hour show that featured a 45-minute promo unrelated to any of those three titles.
