8 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW Collision (19 August)
3. Mild Improvement For The Women
A Down on every single Collision Ups & Downs so far, is how the company's female talent have been treated on this show. Of course, than in itself is a wider problem across all AEW programming.
These past few weeks, the women's roster has been reduced to one seven or eight-minute match on a two-hour broadcast; a seven or eight minutes where three are spent in a picture-in-picture commercial break.
While we still only got one women's contest on this week's Collision, it did at least thankfully get a little more time than the ladies have had previously.
This time out, Willow Nightingale and Diamante got nearly 12 minutes - which, yes, did include a picture-in-picture break - and both ladies impressed, with Willow scoring the win after hitting a powerbomb, which came once Kris Statlander had come out to stop Mercedes Martinez interference.
The match was solid, Willow again showed why she's one of the most natural babyfaces in the world, Diamante continues to make the most of her opportunities, and this all nicely kept the Statlander/Nightingale vs. Mercedes/Diamante rivalry chugging along.
