8 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dark (Aug 18)

6. The Hybrid 2 vs. The Initiative

Brandon Cutler and Peter Avalon played the lovable loser role well here, working as defacto babyfaces against Angelico and Jack Evans. That was essential, as it's impossible for even a character like 'The Librarian' to come off as the most obnoxious guy in a match with Evans, who remains one of AEW's most effective d*ckheads.

Much of this match revolved around flippydoos. That's fine, because flippydoos are fun, though you may want to skip it if that's not your kind of thing.

All fast counters and dazzling exchanges, this was like scoffing half a packet of Skittles at once. It wasn't lacking in character (Hybrid 2 matches rarely) are, though it was all about providing sweet, sugary, entertaining overall, and it did just that. Evans took the W after a 450 on Avalon.
