IMPACT Wrestling know exactly how to book a weapons-based encounter, but when you add in their excellent ability as it pertains to booking multi-man bouts, you’ve got a banger on your hands.
That’s precisely what Hardcore Justice’s main event Hardcore War was. One team led by Eric Young – also featuring Joe Doering, Deaner, and Rhino – against a team led by Tommy Dreamer – featuring Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Eddie Edwards, and Dreamer’s replacement Trey Miguel.
A minor Up for Trey entering as Tommy’s replacement, who suffered a pre-match backstage assault. Including Miguel on the card rather than ol’ Tom was understandably a better decision.
As a match, this was perfectly laid out. Violent By Design won the coin toss to have the man advantage, with Deaner kicking off the match for his side. It makes sense, considering he’s always taking one for the team. Notable spots in the match included Joe Doering storming through the competition, Rhino tackling Rich Swann through a corner-propped table, and a huge Tower of Doom. Sheer excellence.
Eric Young spiked Willie Mack with a Piledriver to win the match for VBD, who were the right winners here, while Mack was also the easiest choice to take the fall. He’s got nothing going for him right now; everyone else on his team does.
Reminder that Eric Young wrestled this match with a torn ACL. Incredible.
