Blindfold matches in wrestling are always chock full of nuances. Jake Something vs. Brian Myers, regardless of the hardcore aspect that was added, was no different.
It had the staggering around aimlessly, it had the grabbing of the referee even though he’s wearing a striped shirt and can’t possibly be your opponent, and it had the heel lifting up his hood behind the referee’s back. In any other match type, Myers vs. Something would have been great. A blindfold match, though, wasn’t the way to go.
Matt Cardona got involved towards the match’s conclusion, picking a bone with Myers pulling his hood up a bit to superkick Jake. He shoved his crate from the Mystery Crates match to Something, who revealed it to contain an array of action figures by smashing it over ‘The Most Professional Wrestler’s’ head, and then ended proceedings with a Black Hole Slam.
A fundamentally sound match if it had literally any other stipulation to it, but Jake Something vs. Brian Myers is an easy miss if you’re watching this on replay. That shouldn’t be a sentence written in 2021.
