8 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Hardcore Justice 2021

2. Who Booked This?

In the most random bout IMPACT has booked all year, Doc Gallows wrestled Black Taurus. On a semi-major show. Why?

What was worse is that this was a lumbering affair. Both Gallows and Taurus were slow and methodical for this sort of bout, which is alright to an extent on a weekly episode, but has no place on a show that’s all about being hardcore. What’s so extreme about a number of rest holds?

This could have, and should have, been over in five minutes or less. As much as your writer loves Black Taurus, he shouldn’t have been standing any chance against ‘The Big LG’. His burst of energy towards the match’s conclusion – including the worst execution yet of his Whisper in the Wind variation – shouldn’t have happened.

Gallows’ sit-down Chokebomb to end proceedings was fine – he needs this sort of move as a finish. Sadly, he only won the bout because of Karl Anderson’s intervention. How are we meant to take Doc Gallows as a genuine threat when he’s taking more than ten minutes to defeat Black Taurus? Peculiar booking, to say the least.
