8 Ups And 1 Down From NXT TakeOver WarGames

Ups...

8. Women Make History

NXT Woman's match

NXT made history Saturday night with the first women’s WarGames match, bringing female superstars into the classic, brutal match. And it didn’t disappoint.

The match included a bit of a twist, but we still got a full-fledged WarGames bout. Yes, it wasn’t as insane as some of the past ones we’ve seen in NXT, but for a first go-round with the women, this was a solid bout.

It featured Rhea Ripley and Shayna Baszler both locking in submission holds on the top rope on opponents, Io Shirai hitting a moonsault from the top of the cage to two opponents on the mat, Candice LeRae nailing a poison rana on Kay Lee Ray off the top rope, and of course, kendo sticks, steel chairs and trash cans.

With the first women’s match under their belt, NXT can look forward to adding this to their repertoire going forward.
