8 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT 2.0 (Sep 21)

1. Chen's Rapid Win Doesn't Do Much For Anyone
On the surface, having NXT's first-ever Singapore-born star Dante Yen power through NXT Breakout Tournament competitor Trey Baxter isn't the worst idea in the world. However, the execution of said victory last night ultimately left a lot to be desired.
Chen just wasn't given that much to do. Away from hitting his unique looking guillotine-driver finisher for the win out of nowhere, he simply ran around the ring like a headless chicken and got hit with a gnarly snap-dragon suplex. That was about it.
Your writer isn't saying a newbie is required to put on a 60-minute classic on night one, but this one-move-wonder, throwaway, rapid match did nothing for either star and left pretty much nobody yearning for more of either man. More matches doesn't always equal a high quality show, I'm afraid, and this need to cram Chen onto last night's felt like a waste of a debut and Baxter's unquestionable talents.
