8. Daddy's Home, And So To Is Everyone Else
It's safe to say that the air of change was felt all the way through the former black and gold brand last week. However, perhaps the most notable shift came in the form of Tommaso Ciampa leaving the dazzling arena as your new NXT Champion; 908 days on from his last reign.
Kicking us off this week, with a bunch of the fresh faces of NXT 2.0 already swarming the ring like hungry sharks, Ol' Man Ciampa was quick to note how pleased he was to be back at the top of the mountain. Judging from the atmosphere last night, he definitely wasn't the only one.
If it wasn't obvious already, Ciampa's willingness to put over this fresh batch of talent shortly after and fight off the intervening veterans of his generation once again highlighted how he'd been positioned as the guy responsible for getting over a ton of these talents of tomorrow. And, outside of Samoa Joe, is there anyone better for the job?
In a not-so-subtle passing of the guard, the likes of LA Knight, Cameron Grimes, and Pete Dunne each made their way out to confess they should be wearing the gold right now - looks like Von Wagner senses he had no business getting involved a week ago - only to be shot down by the cocky NXT newcomers.
Sure, it was all a little contrived and the inevitable brawl (both inside the ring and backstage) felt like another attempt to show off the "anything can happen" WWE trope, but it really does feels like a new era and not just a slogan at this point. So, let's see if those in the back can deliver...
