Last week's main event saw Pete Dunne hammer home the fact that he wasn't waiting for his NXT Championship shot any longer by snapping 'The Prince's fingers after his and Kyle O'Reilly's main event win over NXT Tag Team Champs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch.

After reminding us of this, Finn Balor arrived on the scene and provoked Dunne into sending his posse for an early shower. He then finally gave the Brit what he wanted, an NXT Championship match at TakeOver: Vengeance Day. Yet, this mouth-watering announcement was soon interrupted by the 2021 Royal Rumble winner Edge.

The returning veteran, making his first-ever NXT appearance, revealed how much the black and gold show aided him in finding the passion to make his long-awaited comeback. He also noted how he'd never held the brand's top title, and would be watching the two's TakeOver match very closely due to being able to challenge a Champion of his choosing at WrestleMania.

Now, in all honesty, the chance of WWE throwing Edge into an NXT title programme instead of having him take on Universal Champion Roman Reigns seems like a long shot at best. And Balor Vs Edge doesn't exactly scream out "Look how effective our developmental plan is!" But Dunne defending the belt against the 'Rated R Superstar' at 'Mania could admittedly be a career-maker, if it ever actually went down.
