8 Ups And 2 Downs For WWE NXT (Apr 13)

1. Hartwell And Lumis Cast A Soap Opera Shadow

It's not every day you see an 8-person mixed gender tag team match on WWE television, so it's safe to say this had the potential to be a rather enjoyable and refreshing change of pace.

Before long though, The Way were back to their usual mind-numbing tricks, with Indi Hartwell's ongoing love story with Dexter Lumis providing enough eye-rolls to power a Performance Center. Seemingly determined to undermine all the excellent work going down inside and outside of the ring, with insane assisted Eclipses and more dives than a Premier League football match, Hartwell's obsession with Lumis reared its head again as the match progressed.

Attempting to goad Lumis into sweeping her off her feet ala Sleeping Beauty, Hartwell hit the mat. Lumis fell for this on two occasions, with the latter time resulting in the ominous performer carrying Hartwell backstage to... help her? A wink from Hartwell as she was whisked away was enough to leave all hopes of a Lumis future without The Way in tatters. At least, LA Knight has been spared the nonsense.

The action came to a head as Austin Theory found every man and his wife splatted on top of him before Bronson Reed destroyed the star with a Tsunami Splash for the win. Fun closing stretch aside though, the promise of more Lumis/The Way soap opera ickiness was enough to leave a sour taste in our mouths as Tuesday Night NXT's ball began to roll.
