8 Ups And 2 Downs From NXT TakeOver: New Orleans

Downs...

2. Wasting Time

Bands playing a wrestler’s entrance music and accompanying them down to ringside are cool. Bands playing mini-concerts during the PPV to drag out the running time are not.

NXT misfired by having Cane Hill open TakeOver: New Orleans with a performance. It isn’t that the song was bad – though it wasn’t this writer’s favorite genre – it’s that you turn on the PPV at a certain time, and instead of getting a match, you have to sit through a performance that means nothing to you.

If Led Zeppelin reunites with Jason Bonham playing drums and they want to open a PPV with “Black Dog,” then let’s do it. But sticking a band out there to open the show… it just wasn’t a great way to fire up this fan. Sorry.
