It's been a rather meteoric rise for one Carmelo Hayes over the last few months. After challenging for KUSHIDA's Cruiserweight Championship in the summer, the high-flying crowd-pleaser went on to better the rest in the NXT Breakout Tournament, earning himself a shot at any belt on the brand.

Here, determined to be at the forefront of this 2.0 debut, Melo took to the ring and confessed that he wasn't going to be caught off-guard again - referencing being bettered by the Legado del Fantasma numbers game recently - and that he'd brought in Trick Williams as his own personal insurance policy.

Then, things got a little awkward as Trick began to poke at his pal and lure him back into the less humble side of life, with one particularly pregnant pause and repeating of a line hinting at a few understandable opening night jitters. Thankfully, the two found their footing in the end, with Melo agreeing to kick his humbleness to the curb en-route to his eventual title shot.

Providing proof of their attitude adjustment, Trick and Melo then proceeded to beat the p*ss out of Duke Hudson after the Aussie disrespected the Breakout winner. Both of these guys have star potential and can undoubtedly go in the ring - Hudson isn't a bad hand either - so it'll be interesting to see how a soft Hayes heel turn will play off against the cocky man from Oz should the pair continue to bicker and battle in the future.
