7. A Change Of Pace For Owens
For the last couple months, Kevin Owens has been embroiled in a feud with Seth Rollins and his cronies, and while it’s a high-profile rivalry, it seems to be repeating itself week after week.
So it was good to see KO get out from that feud – at least initially – and confront Randy Orton in the opening segment. Owens tied things together nicely, noting his recent history of dealing with delusional people, but then making a personal connection. Rather than just talk about both men being Canadians (which wouldn’t have been a surprise given the crack writing staff), Owens talked about looking up to Edge and how much he wanted to share the ring with him, and at Royal Rumble, it looked like that could happen again, but Orton ripped it all away.
Owens is quite good at doing that: taking something that looks flimsy at best and making something out of it. KO didn’t need the best reason in the world to interject into Orton’s business, but he made it stick.
