There’s a school of thought that you save some really good, competitive matches for PPV, where you can get more eyes on the match in a grander setting.

And then there’s a school of thought that when you have a really good matchup of wrestlers who constantly have great bouts, you run them out there whenever you can to fire up the fans. That’s what we got with Seth Rollins and Finn Balor Monday night. As Balor noted, he and Rollins were 2-2 in four singles matches to that point, so it was grounds for an Intercontinental Championship match.

Rollins prevailed in a really good TV match, winning clean after a series of reversals that led to a curbstomp. But as the announcers noted, Rollins was better on this night, implying that Balor could easily win their next encounter.

Hopefully, we’ll see the two square off again. There’s always the risk of overkill, but we’re not there.
