8 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 5)
3. McIntyre Slides Down Totem Pole
When Drew McIntyre showed up on the main roster, you had to think it was only a matter of time before he was holding a world title. He looked (and still looks) like a million bucks, and has embraced his character perfectly.
Instead, he’s spent his summer saddled with being Shane McMahon’s top flunky, above such luminaries as Elias and the B-Team. And now, he’s feuding with a guy who didn’t make an impression on the main roster until he disguised himself as a janitor in a luchador mask.
This writer is a fan of Cedric Alexander, and it’s great seeing him getting a chance to shine a bit, but it feels like a huge step down for McIntyre to be fighting the former Cruiserweight Champion like this. If the goal is to elevate Alexander and WWE is going to follow through on it, then this could work.
But if it’s going to be forgotten in a few weeks and McIntyre is back to palling around with Shane, then this is a big waste of time.
