8 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 10)

2. Baszler Gets Primal

Some might say that Shayna Baszler’s official Raw debut was a bit campy, but let’s face it: We’ve seen wrestlers show up and jump a champ to get heat and set up a title feud.

But what we haven’t seen before is a wrestler jumping a champ and then biting them until they bled, leaving the ring with blood streaming from their mouth. That’s what Baszler did, removing her mouthguard and sinking her teeth into Becky Lynch’s neck, drawing “blood” and leaving to huge boos while Becky writhed on the mat.

If Lynch had been a blonde, this would have been more effective, as her already-red hair only got modestly darker due to the crimson liquid. But as far as a memorable debut, this worked just fine. It got Shayna over as an opportunistic thug who would stoop to any level to take down The Man.

This had the added benefit of Becky then cutting a scorching promo upon her return from the hospital, vowing to track her down, which is the kind of Man we need around WrestleMania season.

The question is, will they pull the trigger at Mania, or have Becky vanquish another challenger? Time will tell.
