Ah yes, it’s time for another WWE staple, the rapid interruption by future competitors leading to a multi-man match.

In this case, Austin Aries was interviewing Neville about a five-man elimination match to determine a new #1 contender for his WWE Cruiserweight Championship when all five men made separate entrances to interrupt Neville. A brawl broke out, and when we came back from commercial, we had a six-man tag match underway.

While the outcome of the match (Neville walking out, Noam Dar eating a Lumbar Check from Cedric Alexander) was fine, the method of getting to that match was the same tired trope we’ve seen from WWE main eventers, with wrestlers walking out and delivering a couple lines before another would join them.

Look, just because it’s been done before doesn’t mean that it’s a great idea. It’s not like the fans were cheering louder and louder as each wrestler walked out.
