8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 31)
3. Avoiding A Happy Ending
Fans clearly wanted it, but kudos to WWE for avoiding giving them what they wanted in this instance.
After Kevin Owens interfered to save Chris Jericho in his match against Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins (whom fans has been chanting for) hit the ring and managed to clear both members of Jeri-KO. He turned around to face Reigns, as fans chanted “Shield” and made the “Yes!” gesture repeatedly. But rather than giving fans a mini-Shield reunion, the two simply acknowledged each other as Raw ended.
This is a much better conclusion to Raw than having Rollins cross the ring and shake Roman’s hand. Considering this history between the two during the past two-plus years, a skeptical “thank you” from Roman is about the right reaction.
Fans might be accepting Rollins as a hero, but wrestlers who have been actively feuding with Seth for months shouldn’t automatically be lining up to shake his hand, and this was the right call.
