8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 8)

3. Another Heel Turn?

Chad Gable Ascension

When they formed as a duo several weeks back, this column wondered if we’d soon see Bobby Roode turn on Chad Gable. With Gable blind-tagging into the matches late and stealing/securing the win, it seemed to be setting the table for that outcome.

We saw this happen again Monday night, with Gable tagging in as Roode was closing in on a win against The Ascension. Gable nailed a German suplex with a bridge for the pin, and Roode immediately looked perturbed. He appeared ready to confront Gable, only for the Authors of Pain to interrupt things.

The problem here is that we had already seen two acts turn heel: Bobby Lashley and the Bella Twins. Seeing a third potentially go from fan favorite to villain was just too much, even if the confrontation was stopped. (Hell, we also got a brief tease of Nia Jax turning on Ember Moon before she hugged her.)

Some agent booking the show has got to see this and say something. And so now we’ll probably get that meltdown in the next week or so, meaning three acts will have changed sides in a very short span. That’s a lot.
