8 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2017

2. Demon King Reigns Supreme

This column has regularly bashed Bray Wyatt for his meandering, nonsensical rants, but they accomplished one thing: They brought the Demon King back to WWE. And he did something no one has done to Wyatt.

Finn Balor broke out the war paint and assumed his alter ego at SummerSlam, which you knew was going to be special enough – and the fans responded in kind – but the best part was how Bray reacted. Normally, Wyatt is the one doing all the spooking and scaring and “mindgames” (as WWE loves to say). But Wyatt didn’t know how to handle the Demon King, and it showed.

Wyatt looked genuinely worried at various times throughout the match, especially toward the end when he went to do his spider walk toward a prone Balor, who sprung to his feet and started growling. Bray froze, and Finn destroyed him. One Coup de Grace later, and the Demon King was victorious.

Hopefully, this is the start of Balor climbing back into the main event, because the crowd reaction showed that he belongs in that conversation.
