8 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 11)

6. Just A Little Color

If this was deliberate, it was an interesting way of advancing the story. If it was accidental, then it worked out pretty well nonetheless. Sheamus blindsided Dean Ambrose before their opening match and controlled much of the bout, but Ambrose was able to fight back into it. However, the match ended in a double countout, with Sheamus trying to batter Dean outside the ring. Then, Ambrose shoved Sheamus into the ringpost once, twice, three times, knocking the Celtic Warrior silly, and threw him into the steps. When Sheamus stood up, he was bleeding from the forehead, and Ambrose proceeded to continue the beatdown until Kevin Owens interrupted and attacked the Lunatic Fringe himself. The reason this worked and advanced the story is that we€™ve seen Owens be the aggressor, constantly trying to put the Intercontinental Champion on the shelf. Ambrose has fought back, but aside from elbowing KO through the announce table once (which came as a counter to another Owens attempt), Owens has mostly been the one swinging for the fences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mc-yLJT58I Monday (whether deliberate or not) showed that Ambrose has an even more vicious side, willing to ram Sheamus€™ head into the post repeatedly until he draws blood, and then continue the assault. Heroes in WWE rarely get to be bada**es too, but Dean Ambrose definitely looked like that in dispatching Sheamus.
