8 Ways To Make A Bigger Star Out Of Rusev Feuding With John Cena
3. Lengthy Matches With Cena To Further Evolve
The story behind most of Rusev's matches on the main roster is that they are mostly squashes. Even when he's had some sort of a challenger, he will dispose of them in three to five minutes. The opponent may get a punch or two in, but typically that barely phases Rusev. A few kicks later, and the application of The Accolade, and all of a sudden the match is over. It is a great way to build up a monster, and it is similar to what they are doing now with Baron Corbin in NXT. Corbin had a very solid match with Adrian Neville this past week in what was one of his longest matches there. That type of evolution is going to be great for Corbin in the long run when he makes another run at the NXT Championship, and it is going to be great for Rusev as he evolves into a constant in the main event picture as soon as this year. His match or presumably matches with John Cena at Fast Lane and possibly Wrestlemania 31 should be lengthy contests that are booked to have a lot of drama and near falls. If there will be two matches, how they play out will be described next...
