8 Ways WWE Dropped The Ball With The Divas Revolution
6. Making The Bella Twins The Villains, And Ending Nikkis Title Reign Too Soon
Some will disagree, but Nikki Bella is not nearly as bad as people think she is. She was terrible a few years ago, but she has vastly upped her in-ring and mic skills, and made a fitting Divas Champion over the last year. Some would say that individuals like her are what ruined womens wrestling in WWE, but in actual fact, if you look at what WWEs ideal image of what a Diva is, Nikki embodies that perfectly. Its not her fault that the Divas werent in the limelight before, shes just played the hand she was dealt as best as she could. That in mind, it was a bad move to make Team Bella look like the sole culprits for why the division was the way it was. With the introduction of actual wrestlers, Nikki and Brie appeared responsible for womens wrestling falling off the map in WWE for the last number of years. To me it just looked like WWE covering their own tracks while also crediting themselves with the revolutionizing of the industrys female division. Sure, Nikki Bella broke AJ Lees reign as Divas Champion, but not only was it portrayed as something undeserving on WWE programming, but she lost the belt merely six days later. WWE should have found a way to make Nikki look equally as good as her (in some cases, more experienced) colleagues. She should have held onto the title for at least another month to allow the hunger to grow for her competition. Banks, Charlotte, Paige, Natalya, Lynch and Alicia would be chomping at the bit to be the next to represent the division and when it finally happened, the payoff would have been much more rewarding, and would have made Nikki and the rest of the division look way better than it did.
