8 Ways WWE Is Catering To The Hardcore Fans Right Now

5. Authority Figures Are Not The Focus Of The Show

For the first time in what feels like forever the main storyline on both Raw and SmackDown doesn’t centre on an evil Authority figure and their power struggle with the talent. We’ve seen this storyline in some form or fashion for almost 20 years and it’s time for it to die a painful, violent death.

Has it?

I may be speaking too soon though, depending upon how this thing with Triple H, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins plays out, but as of right now, while Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley run Raw and Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan lead SmackDown, those characters are supporting players rather than the main focus.

Hardcore fans have been calling for the end to Authority shenanigans for years. Did the company finally listen? When you put all the focus on the non-wrestlers and continually put them over at the expense of the talent, it works to the detriment of everyone. It’s a crutch that the writers don’t appear to know how to leave behind, but thankfully it looks like we’re moving in the direction of a “new era".
