8 Ways WWE SummerSlam 2017 Can Outdo WrestleMania 33

2. No Sideshows

WrestleMania isn't supposed to be a pure wrestling show. It's the one night of the year when the spectacle takes precedence, and everything else gives way. This means an annual parade of celebrity guest spots and other non-wrestling sideshows, with WM 33 supplying John Cena's proposal to Nikki Bella, and Rob Gronkowski's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal interference.

'Mania caters primarily to casual fans, so it's relatively easy to accept these diversion as part of the show. Regardless, that doesn't make them any more enjoyable for some members of the hardcore fanbase to sit through, and these segments are always the source of many complaints in 'Mania's aftermath.

SummerSlam should fortunately be devoid of these scenes. Unless Jon Stewart randomly decides to show up again, we won't be seeing any celebrities imposing themselves on the action, and there won't be anything as cynical as Cena's pre-planned proposal. Sure, Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Bálor could get dumb (particularly if the Irishman brings his demon makeup), but for the most part, this show should be all about the wrestling rather than the sideshow, though WWE will inevitably spoil a couple of bouts with screwy finishes.
