4. Spring Stampede 1999
WWE.comThe late 1990s in WCW produced some great moments, but finding cards with great matches up and down was difficult. This is one of those rare gems. A tag title match between Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko going up against Perry Saturn and Raven was the highlight of the show. Raven was so hit and miss in WCW. You could either get an awesome performance or he would be terrible depending on his mood. It was a hard hitting tag match between four guys that could really go. The Juventud Guerrera vs. Blitzkrieg match that opened the show was outstanding. It was typical WCW where they had no story going into it. They just gave them 12 minutes and they had a great match out of it. There were also Rey Mysterio vs. Billy Kidman and Booker T vs. Scott Steiner matches that were good although those guys all had better matches over the years too.
Hulk Hogan was never a guy that had awesome matches especially in WCW. Part of the reason was because he was in his mid 40s and the matches were tremendously overbooked. In this match, he was part of a four way with Ric Flair, Sting and Diamond Dallas Page. After DDP won, people were shocked by it although it felt new since the others were perennial top guys. It was a genuine feel good moment for a true WCW guy.
